My glorious day at the beach.

My glorious day at the beach.

My day at the beach has been amazing. There is nothing like strolling along the sand listening to the crashing waves as they caress the shore. I enjoy the sounds the Seagulls make as they glide and dip in search for any tiny morsel of food. The sun shone strong and steady throughout the day which is a rare treat for the Oregon Coast. The wind, although strong, was cool and refreshing. I love the smell of the ocean. All day long, it seemed as if just a few of us… got the inclination to come to the beach. It was nice to have long moments all to myself. I feel sorry for all those in Portland who are having a cloudy day, and feel somewhat guilty for my glorious day at the beach.
The sun is announcing that my day was coming to a close. I head to the top of the dune so I could watch the sun set. I had my camera so I could capture the moments for later viewing. The sand dune was quite high, but would provide a spectacular vantage point. I was glad to finally reach the top and find a nice spot to lay my blanket for my final event of the day. I sat in silence listening intently to a mixture of sounds… crashing waves, sea gulls, children playing in the distance and the wind in my ears.
I was completely comfortable there in my spot. I was just warm enough to enjoy the air as it had began to cool while the sun began it’s descent. I found myself “all in”. The sun had turned bright orange and was reflecting on the distance sea. It was a beautiful mixture of orange and cerulean blue. The colors in the sky were incredible with the deep blue of evening melding with the bright orange.  My camera poised and ready…I got several shots. I wanted to slow the process. I hoped that mere wishing, and possibly holding my breath would make time stand still. Maybe even stop the disappearance of an awesome day. I watched and waited, transfixed on the moments in which I was present. Slowly the sun continued to drop. I savored every second…
It was now half emerged in the sea despite my attempts to hold it back. Now the reflection was in the foam of the waves…bringing it into the wet sand. What a beautiful presentation of the sun’s last act of the day!
In just a few moments of time…the sun sank beneath the ocean’s darkness and was gone. It waxed in my memory…I would not forget.
As I took in a big relaxing breath…I knew that I would have to get back to work…my break was over. 🙂

Just one relaxation technique I use to help me through my day.

Thanks for the stunning picture. The back of my house faces West & I do enjoy the beautiful sunsets each night.

I am glad you like the picture. I love both sunrises and sunsets. I am blessed to be able to see sunrises as I drive to work. They make me feel close to God. It’s almost makes me feel as if He is greeting me in the morning and a sunset brings His words at the end of the day. No two sunsets or sunrises are the same. They are all different and unique. When I need to relax, I find my quite place while remembering a beautiful sunset and taking in it’s beauty. It centers me and reminds me that God is in control. Blessings to you as you take in your next sunset.
