Be your self.

Be your self.

With so many roles to play throughout your days, weeks, months and yes even years…it is not always easy to just be yourself! Depending on the situation you are in at the moment…the demand on you may be for you to be in a role that isn’t natural. Maybe you are a boss and in that role you have to have an authoritarian personality. Maybe you are in charge of your kids for the day and you have to switch into grown-up mode.
It isn’t always easy to stay in these roles for long periods of time. Some people are really good at wearing a mask and hiding behind them. I would say from my own experience…those masks can be worn for years. It can be so extreme that the person forgets their true self.
While staying in a role for your job, a presentation, or being in charge of children can be important…it is just as important to be yourself.
I keep grounded with my true self when I practice my creativity. I paint regularly and write often. I try to let myself go and allow myself to play and sometimes even be silly. I have friends who remind me of who I am and won’t let me stay behind a mask for very long.
So I would be interested to hear how you keep centered and in touch with your true self.
