No one Wins if you give into Depression

No one wins if you give in to depression.

It is so important to teach yourself to recognize feelings and get in the habit expressing them daily. Satan will then not have the opportunity to use your hurt, stuffed feelings, to create a nest, from which he can conjure up a tangled web. When he sees a weakness in your heart, he likes to move in and make himself at home, destroying your life. We need to be on guard and not let the devil come in and claim territory that is not his.

Our hearts belong to God. God is faithful and will use our adversity to put us in the position of receiving a blessing. We can’t let our peril frighten us from what God has placed just beyond the trauma or stressor.

How many blessings have we missed in our lives because we lingered too long in the tragedy or stress of our lives? How many times have we let the traumas of life beat us up to the point of not being able or capable of recognizing the blessing or gift just beyond our reach? How long have we stared at a blessing, unmoving, non-accepting- unable to see because we are not seeing with God’s eyes? How many times can you remember good things happening as a result of coming through a challenge in your life?

I can tell you many sad or difficult stories of my life that had a fantastic ending. I have made it through grief, discouraging and stressful situations, relieved to receive wonderful feelings too numerous to mention. They were rewards in essence of coming through life’s obstacles and reaching the other side. By “hanging in there” and being patient through the tough times and difficult journey, we can discover the fruit of all our efforts.

I’m sure that you can think of many examples in your own life where you kept on the path of despair, even though you wanted to quit and discovered something wonderful awaiting you at the end. Possibly you found a lesson to learn, discovered gratitude, a brighter opportunity, an individual or even love, all waiting because you gave yourself a chance to complete the task. You didn’t give up or run away. You stayed and were rewarded, possibly beyond your imagination.  Page 67 of Escape from the Pit of Despair by Kim M. Yeager MA

Read Psalms 18 and be blessed.
